ARNO ELMER

The graduate business economist and business information scientist earned his doctorate in the field of health sciences. He holds a Master of Laws degree with a focus on data and consumer protection on the Internet. He taught at the Protestant University in Nuremberg, Faculty of Health and Nursing, and since 2008 at the FOM, University of Economics and Management in Berlin and Nuremberg, including health economics. Over the past 20 years, he has gained sound experience as a manager, managing director and board member in top companies in the management of complex IT projects, in the introduction of card- and online-based payment systems and in the successful restructuring and reorientation of companies. Until mid-2015, he was Managing Director of gematik, Gesellschaft für Telematikanwendungen der Gesundheitskarte mbH, and implemented the turnaround of the largest European eHealth project. Prof. Dr. Elmer has headed the "Digital Health Research Group" at FOM for several years. Together with other eHealth experts, it initiates research projects and publishes specialist publications on current developments in the field of digitisation in the healthcare sector. The range of services also includes the organisation of events and active participation in congresses. Naturally the results and experiences from the interaction of theory and practice flow into the project of the INNOVATION HEALTH PARTNERS as well as into the teaching activity at the FOM.
