Chairwoman, German Aerospace Center

Prof. Pascale Ehrenfreund is the Chairwoman of the board of the German Aerospace Center (Deutschen Zentrums für Luft- und Raumfahrt,DLR). DLR is one of the largest engineering research centers for space, aviation, energy, and transport in Europe and employs more than 8,600 people at 26 locations in Germany.

Prof. Pascale Ehrenfreund is a Research Professor for Space Policy and International Relations at the Space Policy Institute of the George Washington University in Washington DC and Chancellor of the International Space University ISU. From 2013 to 2015 she was the President of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF).

Pascale Ehrenfreund completed a master’s degree in molecular biology and received a doctorate in astrophysics from the University of Vienna. She completed her habilitation in astrochemistry at the University of Vienna and completed a master’s degree in Management & Leadership at Webster University, Leiden in 2008.

The asteroid “9826 Ehrenfreund 2114 T-3” bears her name.
