About The Person
Since 20 years Joao Pesquero has been teaching Biophysics for the medicine course and carrying out research on the biochemistry and pharmacology of the inflammatory kallikrein-kinin system at Federal University of São Paulo. More recently, in the last ten years his group has been working on the molecular and genetics aspects of lysosomal storage diseases, diagnosing patients and developing novel molecular diagnostic procedures. Recently he is coordinating the Center for Reaseach and Molecular Diagnostic of Genetic Diseases at my University, aiming to work on different aspects of genetic diseases, from diagnosis to novel treatments. As an entrepreneur he helped to set up the companies Exxtend and Proteobras, for the production of oligonucleotides and proteins in Brazil.
