About The Person
Ms. Sakaki has received her MMus in piano performance from Manhattan School of Music and has been actively performing as a soloist and collaborative pianist in greater NYC area, western Europe and Japan. As a piano teacher and neuro-enthusiast, Yayoi has extensive knowledge and experiences in correlating cognitive functionalities and learning behavior with piano study. Her focus has been on quantification of learning and evaluating the roles of visual recognition in visuo-motor encoding, memory and rhythm’s influence on moods. Her goals are to alleviate the stigma of dementia and other cognitive dysfunctions by creating early diagnostic tools for illness-specific cognitive abnormalities and help optimize cognitive wellness of all ages with joy of music one note at a time.
